With VBS 2016 behind us, it’s a wonderful thing to see the children enjoy themselves so much in a spiritual environment. The work that is done to prepare for VBS is no small thing, and we need to show our appreciation to everyone who contributed in their own way. This is a marvelous work which is kind of like an iceberg in many ways. What you see on the surface is just the 3 days of instruction and classes with a fun day to close us out but there is so much preparation that goes on under the water, so to speak. So one last time, thank you to everyone who does their part for the work of the church either in the limelight or behind the scenes.
When reflecting about this, there is a biblical concept that comes to mind. We are collectively the body of Christ here on Earth. The work that Jesus does through us is very important, but it takes everyone contributing for that work to be successful. Ephesians 4:15-16, “but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”
We all have something that God has blessed us to do, and we all have a role to play. Let us never be discouraged that our work is not important. 1 Corinthians 15:58, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
Again, thank you so much for your labor and your effort. When we work together, we can do amazing things for our Lord.
